Minister for School Education & SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak said on Saturday that peaceful atmosphere was required for all round development in the state.
The Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of Government High School (GHS) at Khuzama and said that peaceful atmosphere was needed for economic and other developments which would pave way to make leaps and bounds of growth in the state.
He said that the atmosphere has improved in the state atleast 75 percent with substantial decrease of bloodshed after the DAN government came to power.
Nyeiwang recalled his vision of having a Tenyimie speaking person as Chief Minister then who could govern the state with peace and development and highlighted that the present DAN government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio had achieved many works left pending during the time of Congress. He said that upgrading of GMS to GHS was indicative of development in the state through Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) programme which the state got through his initiative.
The Minister said that Education Department was the centre of development because if education department was weak then it affected all other departments. Comparing the educational system of the past with that of the present when people were certain even with simple pass, Nyeiwang said that the contemporary educational system was very competitive which was why the state government was appointing well trained teachers to offer quality education to the students.
In this regard, he urged the students to strive hard to obtain high marks and become apt with time.
While speaking about communitization, he exhorted the VECs to check whether the teachers were regular and punctual in their duties and held up their pays if found guilty. Nyeiwang expressed regret that the mid-day meal meant for school children were misappropriated in many places. He also disclosed that the amount of constructing kitchens in schools have been enhanced from Rs 60,000 /- to four lakhs through SSA program.
The minister was accompanied by MLAs Dr Nicky Kire, Advisor for Music Task Force and Chairman NKVIC, Nuklutoshi, Chairman for NIDC & NHL and DPDB Mokokchung, Azheto Zhimomi, Adviser for Sericulture & Cooperation and DPDB Dimapur, Mhathang Kithan, Commissioner and Secretary for SE and other officials of the department.
