Reaffirming its earlier decision to preserve flora and fauna, Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has informed that it would enforce a total ban on hunting and poaching within its jurisdiction. CVYS president Medo Medoze and general secretary Mhasiletuo Visezo stated that total ban would include ban on fishing at Chathe river and Khuova river, felling of trees, illegal collection of firewood and bamboo-shoots, fodder collecting for cattle, picnics, scrap collectors, roaming jewelers and door-to-door traders. Society also cautioned that outsiders would not be allowed to roam freely within the village jurisdiction after 8 pm without genuine reason. CVYS urged responsible public to restrain from illegal practices and cautioned that strict action “without warning” would be initiated against any one found violating CVYS orders.
