Weeklong training of engineers

A seven day training programmes on DPR preparation and quality control for the engineers of Nagaland PWD, the first of its kind in the state started here on Monday at the PWD Conference hall.
Commissioner and secretary work and housing, Temjen Toy in his inaugural address stressed on the needs for professionalism in the field and advised the engineers to always keep updating themselves with the latest information in the fast changing technologies.
He also asked them to take the training as an opportunity to sharpen themselves and attend all the session of the training programme. He also advised them not to hesitate in asking the questions and clear whatever doubts during the sessions.
Earlier, Dinesh Sharma, joint director NITHE Noida who is also a resource person in the training, briefed the trainees on the institutional set up and various functioning and programmes of NITHE through power point presentation.
H K Sharma, Hill Road expert and former SE, Utterkhand PWD, Dehradun also exhorted the gathering. Altogether 97 Engineers from all over the state registered for the training on the first day.
The seven days training programme would dwelt on various aspect of DPR and maintenance of road and quality control.
Experts resource persons from different part of the country including Dr. S.C. Maiti, former joint director, NCCBM, New Delhi, Satish Sagar, former CE, Himachal PWD, Shimla (HP), Col S.P. Tomer, Team Leader, NHAI Projects Unihorn India Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi, Dachiku Kiyoshi NITHE Noida (UP), Dr. Vasant Havanagi, Sr. Scientist, CRRI, New Delhi, Prof. A.K. Duggal, Head, Department of Civil Engineer, NITTTR, Chandigarh (UT), Ashok Kumar, Chief Engineer M/o Road Transport and Highways New Delhi, Kamleshs Kumar, CE, M/o RT&H and Director, NITHE would train the engineers of the state during the training programme.
The inaugural function was chaired by Engineer-in-Chief, Dr. Vikuotuolie Angami who also gave the introductory remarks while chief engineer PWD (R&B) D. Mero gave welcome address and vote of thanks proposed by chief engineer (Housing) L.Y. Sumi.
The training programme was sponsored by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of DONER, Govt. of India and Organised by the National Institute for Training of Highway Engineers (NITHE).
