Nagaland chief minister Nephiu Rio inaugurated the newly constructed Chubi Bridge which connects Sungro Range under Wokha district with the Wokha-Merapani road Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rio congratulated the NEEPCO officials specially the engineering wing for their tireless efforts in constructing and completing the bridge. He said that the bridge would connect Sungro Range and also create more avenues for economic and developmental activities in the area while also providing easy accessibility to other districts like Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang and Zunheboto for reaching commercial cities in a short distance. Rio expressed that state government was trying its best in pressing development in every nook and corner of the state, however he lamented that it was hampered by land ownership issues and appealed all landowners to address their grievances in a reasonable way and to cooperate with the government in order to develop our land to a vibrant society.
The Chubi Bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs. 7.1 crores under NEEPCO Cooperative Social Responsibility Scheme (CSRS). NEEPCO engineering wing also informed that vehicles with more than 9 tonnes would not be allowed to cross the bridge.
The inauguration function was chaired by the deputy commissioner Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor. The chief minister was accompanied by a host of his cabinet colleagues, parliamentary secretaries and other government dignitaries.
Earlier, the chief minister also inaugurated a welcome gate at Englan EAC HQ under Wokha district.
