Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) in collaboration with DRDA Peren organized a GP level leadership training at Peren town on August 7. The programme was attended by more than 50 participants comprising of village chairmen, VDB secretaries, leaders of women societies and SHG members.
Addressing the participants, BDO Peren Chimoklemba Phom spoke on roles and responsibilities of village council members, and exhorted them to diligently exercise their rights and duties as per village and area council act 1978.
BDO also spoke on the need to keep in mind the sanctity of the composition, tenure, power and duties of village councils. Speaking at the second session of the programme, DAN gender coordinator T. Rose Sephe highlighted on implementation of various developmental schemes and urged participants to be exemplary while executing their responsibilities so as to inculcate values of commitment and sincerity among future generations.
The programme was conducted as part of DAN’s efforts to increase participation and involvement of people in bringing about changes at the grassroots levels, through greater transparency and accountability in implementation of various schemes at village levels.
