Lotha Lower Range Public Organization (LLRPO) has condemned the “firing and assault” incident by Nagaland Police upon peaceful demonstrating members of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) at Golaghat district in upper Assam and said it was “discontented by the unscrupulous action” of the state police. LLRPO said that the Lothas living in bordering Assam have been neglected by the state government in various developmental activities The LLRPO maintained that it has special concern for people living in bordering area who were mostly dependent on Assam for livelihood.
Stating that it was maintaining a good relation with the neighboring state and therefore deeply concerned regarding the “very complicated issue,” the LLRPO has demanded the authority responsible to take action against the erring police personnel to avoid any misunderstanding between Nagaland and Assam in future and for the people living in border area. It expressed solidarity to the injured protesters and extended full support to the demand of AASU.
