Nagaland chief secretary, Lalthara on September 17 inaugurated the up-gradation of Government Middle School (GMS) Nerhema to Government High School (GHS) Nerhema at Indoor Stadium, Chiephobozou.
In his speech, Lalthara said the school, which has been established in 1961 deserved to be upgraded to a full-fledged GHS.
Urging the school faculty and villagers to cooperate to bring moral standard of the students, the state chief secretary said that worldly things would go away, but with good education, students could take care of themselves and others. He also encouraged students to acquire knowledge and obtain good marks in exams.
Lalthara reminded people to take initiatives in all government developmental activities and opined that construction of school building should be looked after by the public and ownership should be maintained.
Additional secretary, school education and state mission director, Angau I. Thou, in her short speech said government has upgraded 73 GMS to GHS and added that quality education should be imparted to students.
Highlights of the programme included unveiling of monolith by the chief guest, special song by students of the newly upgraded GHS Nerhema, traditional folk tune by Nerhema model village followed by presentation and vote of thank by VEC Nerhema chairman Luolhoulie Chati.
