Government Primary School (GPS) Pimla celebrated its 50th year anniversary on September 15 with secretary to government of Nagaland, Zhaleo Rio as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest dwelled on quality education and called upon the villagers to introspect into the last 50 years of the school’s progress and achievements. Encouraging Government Primary School Pimla to be a role model school in the district, Zhaleo Rio said quality education should go parallel with existing school infrastructure.
He also emphasized on the need for joint efforts of teachers, parents and the VEC, and further called upon the VEC for compulsory enrolment drive and appropriate use of power to bring out the best in students.
DEO Dimapur Asono Ndang also exhorted the gathering and stressed on mass community participation and judicious utilization of funds.
She called for transparency and accountability on the part of the school authority and timely submission of utilization reports.
The DEO also highlighted various facilities and grants under SSA and urged the VEC to be dutiful to teachers.
The programme was marked by various songs and cultural items presented by Pimla Mission School and Pimla and Zutovi villages.
Others who spoke on the occasion included DIS Dimapur Khetoshe, village head GB Hosavi Swu, VEC chairman Izheto among others, while village pastor C. Hetovi and women leader Ghotoli pronounced invocation and benediction prayers respectively.
