The four KDCC suspended members said they were “annoyed” with the allegations leveled against them and clarified that they were only witnesses to some youths entering the Congress Bhavan who damaged the ballot boxes and papers. The four members in a rejoinder claimed that the party workers noticed certain “underground activists” moving freely around the polling booth in support of the presidential candidate S. I. Jamir. In this regard, they decided to appeal the party leaders present inside the polling booth that election could not be conducted “under threat or usage of undue influence”, it stated. At that time, the statement said four persons -”some youths” also entered and damaged the ballot boxes and papers, reason best known to them (youths). Questioning the authority of C. Apok Jamir in directing the KDCC to suspend their membership, they said it was “unbecoming” of Apok and that in his desperate attempt has also dragged the name of Z. Obed and Seyiekuolie. Further they said KDCC cannot function to support an individual candidate nor directed by an individual to go against its members without valid reasons.
