A co-curricular competition among the alternative schooling children was held on Saturday at IMC Hall with DC Dimapur and chairman DMA Maongwati Aier as the chief guest. A total of 20 NGOs looking after such schools took part in the programme which was organized by DMA Dimapur under SSA programme.
Lauding the efforts of the NGOs for spreading education among the under privileged class, Maongwati Aier pointed out that the SSA programme was aimed at uplifting, exploring the potential and educating every child as part of the universal education for all. He also appreciated them for providing basic and vocational training to the under privileged children.
Asserting that the educational process also brings forth community participation, the DC expressed hope that the education would make the children move ahead and make Dimapur a better place. Other highlights of the programme included testimonial competition, action songs and fancy dress competition. Subonenba Longkumer of Community Educational Welfare Society also presented a documentary.
Meanwhile, Community Educational Welfare Society, Transformation Resource Centre and Aloino Centre won the first, second and third positions respectively for being the best implementing NGOs in alternative schooling.
