At the official dinner hosted by chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio at Heritage Bungalow on Saturday, in honour of His Excellency the vice president of India, Dr. M. Hamid Ansari, the vice president said that he was left speechless by the generosity and the warm welcome accorded to him and his wife during their visit to Nagaland.
The chief minister presumed the journey must have been a bumpy ride from Dimapur to Kohima, however the vice president of India said that he and his wife thoroughly enjoyed their journey by road, adding that it enabled them to see bit of the fascinating Nagaland in ground reality, otherwise they would have only seen a birds eye view of Nagaland, had they traveled by chopper ride, stated an official bulletin. Neiphiu Rio in his short speech extended happiness to the vice president and his wife for visiting Nagaland and expressed regretted they had to experience a bumpy ride to the state capital. He was optimistic that the vice president would take back fond memories of Nagaland and be an ambassador of Nagas, so Nagaland could be at par with other countries.
The dinner party was also graced by His Excellency, the governor of Nagaland, Nikhil Kumar and his wife, chief minister’s colleagues of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, officials of World Bamboo Organisation, delegates from other countries, commissioner & secretaries, HoDs and officials who participated in the ‘World Bamboo Day’ celebration.
The programme was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi while the invocation prayer pronounced by Pastor Baptist Mission Church, Moa Longchari. Before dinner, the Music Task Force organized an entertainment programme featuring Tetseo Sisters, the Cultural Vibrant, Neise and Asin, Zowe Madrigal, Toshi Naro, Rokovotuo, Azi Tetseo, and the Bamboo Ensemble who had enthralled the visiting dignitaries with the traditional songs and contemporary music. The DGP band also entertained the exclusive gathering.
