2 injured in shootout at Jama Masjid

Two gunmen on a motorcycle opened random fire at one of the entrances to the Jama Masjid here Sunday, leaving two Taiwanese tourists wounded, police said.
The attackers fired at least 10 rounds at a group of tourists alighting from a luxury bus outside the mosque.
Police said a suspect has been detained who hails from Vasant Kunj, south Delhi. Police revealed that the motorcycle, bearing registration number DL 4S AJ 0496, was registered in his name.
Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat told IANS that the attack took place at 11.30 a.m. outside gate number 3. The prime witness in the case, Salim, told reporters: “I was standing at a distance when I saw these two fair-skinned and tall men on a bike. They reached the bus and started shooting indiscriminately as the tourists were getting on the bus.”
Meanwhile, the Indian Mujahideen threatened to unleash violence during the Commonwealth Games (CGW). A statement by the outlawed group denounced the killings of civilians in the Kashmir Valley and pledged to hit at the CWG starting here Oct 3. “On the one hand Muslim blood is flowing like water while on the other hand you are preparing for the festival of games,” said the statement emailed to BBC Hindi service. “The participants will be solely responsible for the outcome (of our attacks) as our bands of mujahideen love death more than you love life,” it said.
