Hohos to be included in DPDB

Chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday announced the decision to include tribal hohos in district planning development boards (DPDB) to safeguard and promote culture and heritage.
He stated that civil societies were guardians and custodians of the rich Naga culture and tradition.
Speaking at a culminating meeting of Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) team of 2007-2010 at Ura Academy Hall, Neiphiu Rio pointed out that culture and traditions were the identity of the people which must be revived and preserved including music, costumes, cuisine, customs were some areas which needed to be preserved.
Calling upon NAPO, Rio urged them to collaborate with Angami Public Organization and state government in maintaining cleanliness throughout the capital.
He asked them to take leadership and responsibility in manning the capital city by maintaining law and order, advocating cleanliness, etc.
In order to expand the urban township, Rio encouraged Angami residents and land owners to donate land to the government.
President of NAPO, Neitso Sogotsu, in his speech highlighted the works carried out by the team during their three years tenure which included talks on Naga political issue, state government issues and maintaining peaceful atmosphere in the state.
He expressed optimism that the next team would uphold their responsibility efficiently.
Reports were also read out by the secretary, Silie Mepfhüo and treasurer Medoze-u Rio. The newly elected team led by Vilieo Rutsa as the president was inducted during the meet. Songs were presented by Northern Angami Women Orgnization and Cultural Vibrant, Kohima Village.
