GPS Midland upgraded

Government Primary School (GPS) Midland was upgraded to Government Middle School (GMS) on Tuesday at GPS Midland Kohima by Zaveyi Nyekha District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima.
In his address, Zaveyi Nyekha congratulated Ward Education Committee (WEC) for the cooperation in running the affairs of the school. He also said that SSA had become a blessing for the Nagas as the program had benefited studies with various facilities. Highlighting on the Right to Education (RTE) Act, DEO informed that RTE had become functional since April 1, 2010 and it was mandatory to give free education children between the age group of 6 to 14 years and urged upon the people to spread awareness so that children received free education. He also called upon teaching community to give their best while teaching the students and also suggested that teachers come out with innovative idea in constituting various vocational awards to the students.
A brief speech on SSA was given by Teresa Sote, assistant project officer and speech was delivered by Colony elder Keduozholie, ex general secretary Midland Panchayat. It may be mentioned that the school was established in 1967, with the land donated by Raneilie Belho and has now enrolment of 163 students.
Earlier the function was chaired by Nosato Zao, Chairman, WEC Midland, Kohima, invocation prayer was given by Pastor Neisalie Rossi, Midland Baptist Church Kohima, welcome speech was given by Thozonuo Kikon, teacher-in-charge, special song a presented the students and the vote of thanks was delivered by Keneilesa Neikha, Chairman Midland Panchayat
