Ymchungru Tribal Council (YTC) Wednesday expressed dismay over the poor workmanship and negligence of NH-155 Tuensang to Shamator where the road has remained bumpy and potholed causing untold hardship to the commuters for a long period.
YTC chairman executive council, Yanba Showuba blamed the concerned department for total failure in maintaining the road which was the main life line of the people. The NH – 155 also connects various routes in the state.
He pointed out that the Border Road Organization had maintained the road satisfactorily but alleged that the road turned from ‘bad to worse’ after handling over to the NPWD.
The chairman also said that the deplorable condition of NH 155 between Tuensang to Shamator remained a major set back for the people of the area for the past several years. The YTC chairman asked as to why the department has not initiated any remedial steps on the poor road condition when the people were suffering.
Stating that the department did not pay heed to the earlier complaints made by various organizations for the improvement of the NH-155, he said the people of the area would no longer tolerate such kind of step motherly treatment to the people. The YTC urged the concerned department to look the matter at the earliest for the benefit of the people.
He said that almost half portion of the road at 127 km between Tuensang and Shamator gave way to landslide, and that the trucks have not been plying for the past two months. YTC has asked the concerned department to verify the spot and renovate it at the earliest.
