GSUK urged to preserve culture

Joint Secretary Health & Family Welfare, A K Rai on Saturday called upon Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima (GSUK) not to forget the rich tradition and culture of the Gorkha but to preserve it.
Speaking as the chief guest at GSUK annual prize distribution cum audit report programme A K Rai lauded GSUK for bringing out the audit report and maintaining transparency and accountability, which he said was a good example and must be pursued by other Gorkha NGOs.
Inspector MT Branch PHQ, Bishnu Thapa was the guest of honour at GPP Hall Chandmari, Kohima.
Prizes for different activities and events including literacy, games and sports were also distributed. Ashwamedha (Unit-II) received the over all champions award for the year 2010. NGA and GPPK general secretary P K Thapa and advisor GSUK Prakash Lama also spoke on the occasion which was chaired by GSUK President John Thakuri.
Welcome song was presented by combined troupe of GSUK units while cultural dance was presented by Deurali unit. GSUK general secretary, Dhan Prasad Sharma gave the annual report cum audit report while joint secretary Vivek Rai gave the vote of the thanks.
