With an aim to provide treatment to sick animals, preventive vaccination and advice on management practices of livestock rearing for farmers, the 14 Mobile Field Veterinary Hospital Commanded by Lt Col SS Balaje, in coordination with 26 Assam Rifles, organised a free veterinary camp on September 22 and 23 at Kotlen village.
A large number of villagers brought their livestock, pets and poultry to be treated and administered free veterinary medicines.
Free medicines and vaccines for communicable diseases like rabies, distemper, foot and mouth disease, hemorrhagic septicemia and black quarter were administered to the livestock.
About 167 heads of cattle, 65 dogs, 56 pigs, 61 sheep,goat, besides other livestock and poultry numbering a total of 756 animals were treated,de-wormed,vaccinated.
The villagers have meanwhile lauded the army for organizing the camp.
Meanwhile, the mobile field veterinary hospital under Headquarters 3 Corps has planned to organize 15 veterinary camps in the initial phase to cover the states of Nagaland, Manipur and South Assam.
