First meeting of State advisory committee (SAC) was held on Thursday at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. ACS and development commissioner Alemtemshi Jamir IAS who is also a member of SAC called upon the members of the committee to focus on re-organization and re-structuring of electricity sector in the state to meet the present economic development trends.
Highlighting on the power purchase by the state from various generating agencies and the shortfall in recoveries from the sale of electricity, Alemtemshi urged the members of the committee to assist the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in its efforts to discharge its functions.
Also speaking at the meeting, Er. S.I Longkumer, chairman-cum- member of the NERC briefed on central and state electricity regulatory commissions and requested members of the SAC to supplement the functioning of the NERC.
He further stated that to meet the demands in terms of acceptable levels of consumer service, reducing losses, supply of quality power etc, successful implementation of which should require not only management expertise, technical skills, financial resources etc., clear policy and political will.
Others who spoke at the meeting included Kezhokhoto Savi, Hekani Jakhalu, M. Bendangnukshi Longkumer, Capt. Hekiye Sema, Raj Verma members of SAC.
