MUK: Mao Union, Kohima (MUK) has lauded the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and the Naga national political parties for making headway towards the September 18 summit.
In a joint release, president, Mao Union Kohima, and general secretary while terming the reconciliation summit as “peerless and unique” also asked Nagas to be cautious so that the hard earned reconciliation would be used for paving the way towards bringing a final political settlement of the Nagas.
“There was a time for war, but for now it is time for peace process and negotiation for final political settlement basing on the uniqueness of the Naga history and political rights”, stated MUK. Mao Union, Kohima also stated the Naga political struggle at present has reached the highest level of political negotiation with the government of India and the NSCN (IM)/GPRN compared to the previous Naga national political party/government.
It further opined public opinions were sought on the issue of Naga sovereignty, integration and other political rights through the referendum of 1951, where of late, many civil societies, tribal Hohos extended their quivering support for peace process and Naga final political solution to the negotiation party. “The intermediary agreements and accords have to be automatically superseded by the highest level of political talk”, added MUK.
BJP: State BJP has expressed gratitude to the highest top level leaders of NSCN (IM) GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN for merging together on September 18 under FNR reconciliation process.
State BJP in a press release issued by vice president, K. Medom Angami stated the party believed in democracy and that conscience was the best instrument in solving any problems.
The party also expressed happiness on the three Naga groups for sorting out differences for the greater cause of Nagas.
In the recent past NDA government at the centre had recognized the genuineness of the Naga political issues fighting for peaceful solution, stated the BJP.
The party also added that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee having understood the people’s desire to live free from outside rule on his visit to Kohima gave maximum attention to the core issue of the state and declared historical uniqueness of the Nagas.
BJP Nagaland has appealed all political parties at the centre to understand the reconciliation process and the genuine cause of the Nagas for an amicable political solution.
