Dimapur Govt College welcomes freshers

Dimapur Government College observed its 44th freshers’ social meet at an impressive function held at its college campus, here on Thursday.
The welcoming of the 488 freshers (arts and commerce stream) was graced by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Maongwati Aier. In his speech as chief guest, Maongwati said students instead of their daily learning inside classroom has to be innovative and progressive in order to besuccessful in their future endeavor.
He stressed on the importance of moral values in student’s life and said degree alone can not bring satisfaction; but moral values blended with academic excellence was the need of the hour. Pointing out the importance of work culture in present context, he said there was no substitute to success, and it was only through hard work, that dreams and destination could be achieved.
“Student life is not a time to relax, but a season and time to work to achieve goals”, Maongwati also encouraged the students to gather their food at this right season. Principal of the college, Dr. Norbert in his short speech welcomed the freshers to the college.
Speech on behalf of the freshers was read out by Imtisenla BA 1st year. Toloho and Imlikokla were adjudged Mr and Ms freshers. Earlier, the welcome song was presented by BA II year. Highlights of the programme included introduction of Mr and Ms freshers contestants in traditional attire and talent round, entertainment by Matsungtemjen, song by Imnatoshi and Aben Mongro and musical play “Our daily battle”.
