NSS foundation day observed at Jharnapani, Kma

National Service Scheme (NSS) foundation day was celebrated at Jharnapani, Medziphema RD block on Friday by the NSS Unit of SASRD.
The foundation day programme was formally celebrated in the Community Hall of Jharnapani village, which has been adopted under NSS scheme for providing community services based on need of the villagers. Dr. K K Jha, Programme officer, NSS Unit SASRD, gave the welcome address and explained on NSS activities to be taken up in the village with the help of NSS volunteers.
The programme was attended by village council chairman, village elders, youths, progressive farmers, women groups along with National Service Scheme volunteers of SASRD. A social service in terms of cleanliness drive was taken up by the National Service Scheme volunteers in and around the community hall of the village.
On the occasion, another important activity of demonstration on use of bio-fertilizers was conducted in association with bio-fertilizer lab, Medziphema, department of agriculture.
Kenisiezo Punyu, agricultural officer, explained the importance of bio-fertilizer in crops for increasing productivity in an eco – friendly way.
The method demonstration was conducted by Khoto, AFA, where he demonstrated the process of seed treatment with bio fertilizer in case of maize crop and explained the utility of appropriate bio- fertilizers specific to paddy and other vegetable crops.
In the afternoon session, NSS volunteers conducted social work in SASRD campus, clearing the jungle and bushes around approach road to their lecture theaters, hostels and basket ball court.
It may be mentioned that the goal of NSS is education through community service and community service through education with development of student’s personality through community service as its overall objective.
NSS day at NHAK
State liaison Officer, L. Kenneth Punyü, program officers of various National Service scheme (NSS) unit and volunteers visited Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on September 24 to commemorate the 41st anniversary of NSS.
A short meeting was held in the conference Hall with the presence of Dr. L. Angami, managing director NHAK, Dr. Vizolie MS, Head Suptd of nurse and doctors at NHAK.
The function was chaired by SLO L. Kenneth Punyü, who welcomed everyone present and also highlighted the brief history of NSS which started on 24th September, 1969. As a gesture of community service the NSS unit Kohima district donated 31 dustbins to the hospital. The managing director also extended gratitude on behalf of the hospital authority for the contribution towards the Hospital.
