Reacting to a news item that appeared in local dailies on September 22 that FGN deputy secretary T.V. Litsaba allegedly threatened the life of DPO Kiphire Setsathong Sangtam, the former has counter-alleged that he was the one who had been abused by the DPO.
A press statement issued by FGN “kilo affairs” deputy secretary T.V. Litsaba clarified that on learning about PD Kiphire’s transfer, he had gone to DRDA office with his colleagues to meet the PD as they were personal acquaintances since the past two-three years.
The statement alleged that DPO Setsathong appeared and abused Litsaba “for reasons best known to him”, and asked him to leave the office. To this, the statement said, Litsaba replied that as Nagas they were all “free people” to interact with one another and “one need not abuse the other unreasonably, whether privileged or unprivileged”. It also claimed that the DPO had “falsely” reported to the police and around six police personnel were sent to arrest Litsaba.
The statement further said people who were holding white-collar jobs and leading luxury lives were doing so because of the sacrifices made by people for the cause of “Naga nationalism” and such should not be channelized against any “national workers”.
“The disunity and consequences thereof which Nagas suffered for the past three decades because of vested designs of individuals is a lesson for us and which we must contain today,” Litsaba added.
