Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, organized a week-long journalism for social action, for 25 outgoing students of the college from September 20 with an aim to instill love for social action through print media.
Introducing the course, Joseph Cherian sdb, the newly appointed Principal of the college said it was a ‘beneficial course.’
He also pointed out journalism was a major branch of discipline at the post graduate level and that professionalism in the field was on the upward movement.
Facilitated by Tarcisius Toppo sdb, director of Bosco Communications, based at Dimapur, participants hailing from different parts of the country were given theoretical knowledge about all the aspects of print media and journalism.
Hands on experience on writing the lead, headlines, news stories, feature stories, editorial, and letter to the editor etc., was an important part of the workshop.
As part of their practical experience, participants had the opportunity of going around Dimapur for their interview, interacting with the public.
