Government of India with an aim to increase food production has been working to disseminate scientific and technical know-how to the farmers through ATMA (Agriculture Technology Management Agency) in different Agri-allied sectors farming activities.
In response to this and viewing that Tsurangkulem area under Mangkolemba Block of Mokokchung district has great potential in various horticulture farming, ATMA Mangkolemba Block initiated to establish one “Horticulture Farm School” at Tsurangkulem with the sole aim to give training to the horticulture farmer.
The farm school was inaugurated on September 23 with Imsenperong Wati EAC Mangkolemba as chief guest, where farmers from 12 villages attended the function.
Chief guest in his speech encouraged farmers to be pro-active in farming activities. Imrongtemsu DHO Mokokchung highlighted on scope of horticulture farming in Nagaland with special reference to Mokokchung district.
He also encouraged farmers to work hard so as to achieve self sufficiency in food production.
Dr. Rongsentemjen Dy. Director Vety & AH and Convener ATMA Mangkolemba Block spoke on the concept of farm school.
After the inaugural programme, training programme was conducted with resource person from KVK Yisemyong, Akang and Moainla both SMS at research centre where they imparted training on horticulture farming with special reference to orchard farming of citrus, banana, winter vegetables etc.
