In a joint effort, the district administration led by EAC, Lankonsan Tsanglao with DBs, DMC staff and advisors, police, food inspectors from CMO office, and members of Consumer Society Dimapur conducted a surprise checking on wholesale shops at Hazi Park area, on Monday.
A press release issued by DMC stated that the team detected shops selling expired biscuits and Burma products such as achaar (pickle) of different kinds, sunflowers etc. After the raid, Nikhashe Sumi, CEO, DMC warned that the DMC and the administration would continue to conduct such surprise checking to contain the sale of items which a hazardous to life. He further warned that shopkeepers/shop-owners would be arrested if such practices were detected again.
A senior staff of DMC also stated that the DMC tried to conduct such checking in the recent past however, they were prevented from entering the market by welfare committee members.
