Restaurants, bakeries and eateries in Dimapur were still conducting their normal business smoothly, even as joint inspection team consisting of administration, police, DMC and a consumer society on Monday exposed the filthy conditions where the food were processed.
On this issue, additional deputy commissioner, Sedevikho Khro on Wednesday said that show-cause notices would be issued through the CMO with immediate effect to those bakeries, restaurants and eateries running without proper hygienic condition and rules laid by the administration. He said that Monday’s inspection was mainly concentrated on kitchen products and those foods items, which were being produced and processed at various food establishments.
The ADC said that the administration would carry out such inspection and cancel their trade licenses if the hygienic conditions were not satisfactory.
The join inspection team would also be inspecting food production units and bakeries under the jurisdiction of DMC and would be followed suit throughout Dimapur. When contacted, DMC, chief advisor Er. Keditsu said the license issued by food inspectors were seized but not the trade license during Monday’s inspection.
It may be noted that as per the mandatory norms set down for restaurants and bakeries by the DMC, the workers were supposed to wear head covers, hand gloves and aprons. However, most of the restaurants were not following the norms.
