Village, ward education committee awarded 1 lac

The directorate of school education has awarded cash award of 1 lakh to eleven best performing Village Education Committees (VEC) and Ward Education Committees (WEC).
The award is first of its kind since the inception of communitization of elementary education in Nagaland.
The award winning committees include VEC Terogongyu under DIS Tseminyu, VEC Khar under DIS Mangkolemba, VEC Phirahir under DIS Tuensang, VEC Liphayan under DIS Bhandari, VEC Hebolimi under DIS Pughoboto, VEC Khulazu Basa under DIS Chozuba, VEC Jaboka under DIS Mon, VEC Singrijan under DIS Dimapur, VEC Mhaikam under DIS Peren, VEC Chomi under DIS Kiphire and WEC Tamlu under DIS Longleng.
Additional director, N. Khevito Sema further informed that cash award was given with a directive to utilize the whole amount for purchase of class room desk and benches, black board and chalk, classroom wooden table and chair, wooden long table for teachers’ room and steel cupboard for school office, etc.
It was also directed that VEC/WEC having more than one school may share the amount amongst the constituent schools according to enrollment and number of teachers in each constituent schools.
