The proposed agitation of Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) on September 7 was temporarily deferred on receiving letter from chief minister’s secretariat through commissioner and secretary to the chief minister vide letter no. CMN/28(A)/SCH.EDN/2010 Dt.6th Sept.,2010 requesting the association to defer the proposed agitation as the cabinet was to take up the case.
The matter was also conveyed through advisor, co-operation and sericulture MLA Azheto Zhimomi as reportedly advised by the chief minister that the cases of educationally qualified would be considered.
Meanwhile, ATAN in its emergency meeting held at district education office, Dimapur on Wednesday unanimously resolved to resume its agitation w.e.f. September 9 till its grievances were redressed accordingly as per chief minister’s assurances on April 9 and June 3 in the presence of commissioner and secretary, school education and SCERT and ATAN executives on both the meetings.
Further, all members and dependents have been requested to reach ISBT, Dimapur at 6 am on September 9. Members from other districts have been informed to reach the New Secretariat Complex by 11 am on the same day with their belongings.
