Power theft reported at 5th, 6th and 7th mile

Power department conducted surprise checking on power theft by special task force consisting of district administration, police and the department based power departmental officers and staff at 5th, 6th and 7th mile, Dimapur. During the checking, many unauthorized power line connections were detected where defaulters were penalized and asked to sign a ‘good behavior’ bond not to repeat the offence in future. Theft of power (unauthorized tapping) is cognizable offence as per section 379 of India Penal Code (IPC) and is punishable by imprisonment upto three years or a fine or both. Special task force was Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, EAC, Er. Nitovi A. Wotsa EE (E) Dimapur, Er. Hokhuvi Aye, SDO (E) No.III Dimapur, Er. Abenthung Ngullie, SDO (E) No.III Dimapur, Er. Albert Ovung, SDO (E) No.I Dimapur.
