Pastors’ conference underway

The 9th general conference of Nagaland Baptist Pastors’ Union (NBPU), Nagaland Baptist Church Council got underway on Wednesday at Town Baptist Church Dimapur under the theme “Feed my sheep”. The three day general conference is being attended by more than 300 pastors and associate pastors from various Baptist Churches in Nagaland.
Delivering message on the opening service, Rev. Yankey Patton, former state chaplain who is also a missionary in Arunachal Pradesh bordering China called upon pastors to be a man of prayer and prayerful pastors.
Emphasizing on the important role and duties of pastors, Rev. Yankey termed pastoral post as the kingly, committed, sanctified, sacrificial, selfless and honored post. Bringing the message of the theme “Feed my sheep”, Rev. Yankey encouraged the participants to feed the sheep by singing as it washes away one’s problem and also to feed the flock by prayer as it touches God. He expressed that prayer touches heaven while preaching touches the world and called upon the gathering to be guided by God’s Spirit and experience the power of prayer.
In his welcome address, Rev. Vilodi Sakhrie, pastor, Town Baptist Church expressed satisfaction that Christian family in the state was growing despite many problems and hurdles.
He said Church is the chief agent to bring changes in society and expressed hope that pastors from Nagaland attending the conference would be envisioned and strengthened.
In the programme, choirs from Zeme Baptist Church and Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church presented special songs. The three-day general conference is hosted by Town Baptist Church Dimapur and would be concluded on September 10.
