Nearly 50 years after the school was opened, GPS Signal Angami was upgraded to GMS on Thursday with MLA & Advisor Sericulture and Cooperation Azheto Zhimomi inaugurating it.
Addressing the gathering during the inaugural function, Azheto urged the people to follow up on the developments brought in by the government.
Maintaining that the government would be ushering in more development, Dimapur III MLA called upon the people to utilize government property with care.
Impressing upon the teachers to be sincere in their works, Azheto said that quality education could only be imparted only through diligence on the part of the teachers.
He further emphasized that quality education was needed for availing the opportunities provided by the government through the year of entrepreneurship.
Airing his views on the ongoing agitation by aggrieved teachers, Azheto asserted that the government had no intention of making them suffer but had to follow the arrangement.
While affirming that bogus appointment issue was not only limited to education department alone, Azheto stated it had been prevalent since previous years, adding job cannot be given to person holding fake certificates.
“Be patient and let the government finish the process” he urged the aggrieved teachers.
DEO Dimapur Asano Ndang who also spoke during the function stressed on the importance of community in spreading quality education.
Pointing out that people generally shy way after government takes over any development; Ndang asserted that it would only lead to blame game among the people.
Elucidating on the importance of SSA, the DEO added that the scheme had drastically brought down a sharp contrast of conditions between Church building and school buildings in many villages.
She also called for judicious use of funds and maintaining transparency while implementing school related projects.
The inaugural function was attended by elders from the village, village council members, VEC and students.
