7 held with arms, vehicle

In a noteworthy development, Bokajan Police managed to apprehend seven hardcore antisocial elements from Khatkhati locality Thursday night.
According to Police sources, at around 9:30 p.m security personnel manning the Khatkhati interstate border gate intercepted a Marurti Gypsy bearing registration No. NL-07-2590. After stopping the Gypsy, police conducted a through search and recovered a 7.65 mm foreign made pistol, 5 live ammunition and 3 empty shells from the occupants of the vehicle. The vehicle was on its way to Bokajan town and was coming from Gautam Basti, police said. The six arrested persons have been identified as Jaikham Singh (28), Narul Amin (18), Ken Sing Pator, (19), Jarna Hanse (28), Gautam Hdnre (28) and Ramjan Ali (30).
Meanwhile, police also apprehended one person along with one black Bolero vehicle having Nagaland registration from the same check gate. All the seven person arrested were under police custody and investigation are on, police said. Khatkhati has become a breeding ground for criminals and ultras and is considered a preferred hideout of car lifters and arms dealers.
