‘Teej Parva’, organized by Mandir Sanchalan Samity, Sarvajanik Shiva Mandir, Mokokchung was celebrated by women from different sects at Mandir premises on September 10.
On this occasion, married women participated in the annual festival of ‘teej’ with dances and songs in colourful costumes. Special feast were served to the female folks on the occasion.
Following this, special prayers were offered to Lord Shiva by the married women for the welfare, good health and longevity of their better halves, while unmarried girls prayed for their life partners and for a happy married life.
Jyoti Mahila Sangathan being a branch of Mandir Sanchalan Samity, consisting of women members organized Hari Talika Teej Prava with much enthusiasm and joy. Hartalika Teej falls on the third day of the first fortnight of the month of ‘Bhadra’.
On this day, womenfolk fast for long and conjugal life of their husband. By rigorous fasting and praying to Goddess Parvati on Hartalika Teej, married women are blessed with healthy life partners while unmarried girls are said to be blessed by a husband akin to Lord Shiva.
