Mon DPDB meeting
DIMAPUR: The Mon District Planning & Development Board (DP&DB) meeting for the month of September 2010 will be held on September 15 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon. In this connection the additional development commissioner (Planning), Mon has requested all the members to attend the meeting without fail, stated an official bulletin.
‘Thuda War Martyrs’ Day’ observed in Phor village
DIMAPUR: The 50th year of Thuda War Martyrs’ Day was held on September 4 at Phor village under Meluri sub-division. The programme was graced by Yitachu, parliamentary secretary tourism, justice and law as chief guest and a host of dignitaries including Pochury public leaders, student leaders, national workers and Phor villagers. The chief guest also inaugurated the Martyrs’ cemetery and released the Thuda War history book. A special skit on Thuda War was presented by Oyi Self-Help group. Meanwhile, organizing committee expressed gratitude to all guests and especially Yitachu for showing solidarity towards the public of the area and also to the national workers for sharing the same dais and promising a bright and united future.
SJP state level elects
new office bearers
DIMAPUR: Socialist Janata Party (SJP) first state level executive meeting was held on September 10 at the residence of Akei Achumi, national vice president. The meeting was presided over by T. Kiutan, Thong as chairperson and C. Meren as secretary. Further, Akei Achumi expressed gratitude to all the office bearers of various district such as Tuensang, Mon, Longleng and Mokokchung for their cooperation and contribution. During the meeting, the house also elected new office bearers for the state level with Engwang Konyak as state working president and Bendangmeren Chang as state vice president SJP.
Essay competition held on INC 125 yrs
DIMAPUR: Phek NSUI and DCC informed that winners of essay competition held in commemoration of 125th anniversary of INC would be awarded during the anniversary celebration of INC. Winners are Soriechan Duidan and Menote-ü Wetsah, both B.A.-III year student of Pfütsero College who bagged 1st and 2nd position.Meanwhile, Tuensang DCC and NSUI declared C. Longbokelep Chang BA 11 of Sao Chang Government College and Tiala Sangtam XII of GHSS Tuensang as 1st and 2nd position in the essay completion. Cash award for winners and certificate for the contestants and panel of judges would be presented at INC 125 years celebration. President of DYC Tuensang L. Shillem, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and panel of judges Dr. Paul, Santos Kumar and Akiuba of Sao Chang government college Tuensang for successfully conducting the competition.
Lighting kills one
Dimapur, SEPT 12 (NPN): One person was killed and another injured when lighting struck them at Lotsu village under Wokha on Sunday at around 3 pm. According to the deceased’s family members, the victim identified as Zubonthung Ovung (38) was killed on the spot while his brother in-law Nyimshio Odyuo (55) was injured when the lightning struck them while they were sitting in the kitchen. formation of new unions
Dimapur: A consultative meeting of Emloto of Atoizu Town was held on August 31 and resolved to form its union name by “Emloto union Atoizu town”. The new union would be headed by Hosheto Chishi chairman and Hekishe Aye secretary and seven other members.GYCD: Gorkha youth club Dimapur (GYCD) held a meeting on September 5 along with Gorkha Shamaj and DGU chairman and officially formed Padampukhuri unit. The new unit would be headed by Sumir Kr Khati as president and Shanta Gurung as general secretary.
SSUK fresher meet held
KOHIMA: Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima (SSUK) organized its freshers meet cum Mongmong feast on September 6 at state academy hall Kohima with C. Kipili Sangtam, chairman NSMDC as chief guest and C.L. John, chairman Marcofed as guest. At the session, the SSUK also elected a new team of office bearers led by T. Atsongba Sangtam as the president, Rose Mary as general secretary, Thsadongla as assistant general secretary, Trsrola as finance secretary, and other executives.
KOHIMA: Seothsing Village Union Kohima Town celebrated Mongmong festival on Saturday at NSF solidarity park, Kohima. Speaking on the occasion, T. Athrise Manager, NSMDC and K. Lipongse highlighted the significance of the Mongmong festival. Kakuto Chophy and P. Yangseri Sangtam exhorted the gathering. The union felicitated the topper of HSLC exam 2010 with certificate of merit to Levi Anar.
New ACCC office bearers, PCC members
Dimapur: Wokha District Congress Committee (WDCC) has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2010-2013 on August 31. Following are the names of the ACCC office bearers and PCC members of Wokha. 39th Sanis ACCC- N. Thomas Lotha as PCC member. Phyophio Ezung as president, Sunimo Patton and Thejamo Mozhui as vice presidents and Nchemo as treasurer. 40th Bhandari ACCC- E.T. Ezung as PCC member, A.Y. Murry as president, Nzinimo Humtsoe and Elithung Kikon as vice presidents and Atsemo as treasurer.
DPS Sub-Hoho to retain nomenclature
DIMAPUR: The advisory board and executive board meeting of the Dimapur Pughi Sumi Sub-Hoho was held on September 4 at Pukhavi Chophy, Banker’s residence at Niu Colony, Dimapur. The members present in the meeting were of the view that they had been using the nomenclature of Dimapur Sumi Council earlier, which was later adopted as Dimapur Pughi Sumi Sub-Hoho. However for the convenience of all, it decided to retain the old name as Dimapur Sumi Council, for all official purposes.
Seminar on Red Cross movement held
DIMAPUR: The state branch of IRCS in collaboration with its parent body and International Committee of the Red Cross conducted a seminar on Red Cross movement at the DC office conference hall, Wokha on September 3. The resource persons for the seminar were Dr. R Zinyu, Kholie Dolf, Diganta Bajarburuah and Lucy Merry. The topics for the seminar included history and origin of Red Cross movement, use and misuse of Red Cross emblem, seven fundamental principles, activities of Red Cross and role and responsibilities of Junior/Youth Red Cross units etc. A total of 34 members attended the seminar.
