State Congress set for polls

Nominations to various posts in the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) were filed today at the Congress Bhavan Kohima with party workers divided into two camps – I. Imkong and S. I. Jamir.
Three persons namely, I. Imkong, S.I. Jamir and C. Apok Jamir filed their nominations for the post of NPCC president before Pronay Raba member of Nagaland Pradesh Election Authority deputed by AICC.
Reliable sources said that Apok Jamir was mostly likely to withdraw his nomination, as he was a standby for S. I. Jamir.
For the six posts of vice president, 10 nominations were filed including four from Imkong’s camp and six from Jamir’s camp. Those from Imkong’s camp included Khriedi, Theunuo, Ayangba and R. L. Akumba while Sedem Khaming, Khusatho, Tingyeh Konyak, Nillo Rengma, Aosashi and Khutovi filed nominations from Jamir’s camp.
Two nominations were filed for the post of treasurer – Z. Obed (Imkong’s camp) and Yankithung Lotha (Jamir’s camp). Scrutiny of the nomination papers would take place on September 14 and withdrawal on September 15.
Elections for the post of party president (NPCC) and executive members is scheduled on September 17 and results to be declared the same day.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Recruiting Officer and chairman of Nagaland Pradesh Election Authority, H. K. Patil arrived Kohima Monday evening.
