Kohima, Zunheboto DPDB meeting held

To discuss action plan of Kohima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) from September 2010 to August 2011 a meeting was held on September 13 at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima.
Chairman, and Advisor IT & TE, Vikho-o Yhoshu dwelling on the theme ‘ Back to the Roots’, said the initiatives taken by Kohima DPDB were path breaking and an encouragement for officers as well as the people.
He said new ideas and projects under ‘Back to the Roots’ were innovative and challenging which have been conceptualized and designed to benefit the villages.
DC, Kohima, Bieu Angami during the discussion stressed on youth community farming and importance of forest reserve.
ADC, Planning Kohima, Ketoho Luho outlined the various activities to be taken up during 2010-2011 which included an introductory conference to highlight the concept ‘Back to the Roots’ and various awards in the education and service sectors. The meeting also deliberated on agenda in the health sector, capacity building and constitution of various sub-committees.
Other DPDB core committee members who attended the meeting included ADC, Kohima, Alun Hangsing and DPRO Kohima. Further in order to encourage and recognize services rendered by government teachers to the schools and student, Kohima DPDB would be awarding Government School teachers under Kohima District during the monthly meeting to be held on September 23 at 12:30 noon at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima.
Zunheboto: Zunheboto DPDB meeting was held on September 8th 2010 at the DC’s Conference Hall Zunheboto under the chairmanship of Chairman DPDB and Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Commerce, Dr. K. C. Nihoshe.
At the outset, the deputy commissioner welcomed the Chairman DPDB and appreciated him for his regular attendance in the DPDB meetings and added that his regular attendance showed his concern for the district. The board also welcomed its three new members EE Irrigation & Flood Control, Er. Hutoi, DTO (Trans) Zunheboto, Robin Mesen and MVI Zunheboto, Arenbo. The deputy commissioner during the meet expressed his desire to know whether the direction of the government for opening of bank accounts was implemented or not and reminded the members to act accordingly if not completed.
Land resources department presented their activities to the board during the meeting, and to which the chairman inquired as to where lemon and cardamom projects are taken up and also asked if the department identified any market to sell cardamom products.
Following this, DPO (L.R) informed that lemon was grown at Phuyemi and Nito village and Cardamon projects at Tichipami and Sapotami villages. However the market for selling out cardamom products were yet to be identified, the DPO informed.
President, CCF Zunheboto highlighted the arrangement for the coming Ahuna festival-cum-Road Show which has been decided to be held on November 13 and 14 as scheduled and informed the board that following ‘The Year of Entrepreneurs’, the theme for the Road Show programme was also set as ‘Prosperity through Entrepreneurship’.
He stated that distribution of work was yet to be carried for which he requested all concerned to cooperate for the successful conduct of the programme. In this connection, the chairman requested members not to shift responsibility to CCF alone. He also informed that stall construction work has been entrusted to PD (DRDA), cultural items to DCO and further informed the members that there will be a national expo which will be conducted a week ahead of the programme with the NEZCC taking part in the expo.
The GM (DIC) Zunheboto also informed on the entrepreneur workshop which was conducted on September 7 where it selected some candidates to undergo training.
The chairman while expressing his dismay over delay of shifting of SBI to Aghunato, the bank manager replied that he was yet to receive direction from the Regional Bank. Consequently the board decided to write a letter to AGM Regional Bank, Dimapur to take necessary action.
The board entrusted the transport and horticulture departments to present its departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.
