Restrictions have been imposed at Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar to prevent illegal activities in and around the park. An official order, issued by DC Dimapur and released to the press by wildlife warden Dimapur, stated that NZP, a notified wildlife sanctuary fenced by brick walls, belonged to state forest department, and that nobody had the authority to intrude inside the sanctuary. “Nobody is authorized to bury any dead bodies or even dead animals inside the zoological park as it is not a public property not a cemetery,” the order stated. It cautioned that any person found indulging in illegal activities in and around the NZP would be arrested and prosecuted under appropriate section. It may be recalled that DC Dimapur August 19 had promulgated Section 144 Cr. P.C. after a group of people overpowered security personnel and buried the dead body of a woman inside the Park that morning.
