District & sessions judge (D&SJ) Hukato Swu on Tuesday sentenced one person to life imprisonment for murdering a ten-year old boy on April 21,2008. According to additional public prosecutor (Addl PP) Akum, the accused identified as Noor Islam along with the main accused Zulaj (still absconding) had brutally murdered ten-year old boy, Alimuddin after which they burned the body in a forest to conceal their heinous crime.
Giving a brief history of the case, the Addl PP informed that the main accused Zulaj, a married man, was having an affair with the victim’s elder sister. However, after the parents of the girl arranged her marriage with someone else, Noor and Zulaj took the boy to the forest and brutally murdered him.
It may be mentioned that the victim was murdered just three day’s before his sister’s marriage. After his arrest, Noor Islam led police to the spot where the boy was murdered leading to the discovery of the victim’s mortal remains. In the judgment, the D&SJ commented that the brutal murder of an innocent and budding ten-year old was nipped in the bud and described the murder as “heinous and deserving no mercy”. The judge said the prosecution proved the case under section 302 IPC against the accused Noor Islam was beyond any reasonable doubt and sentenced the convict to life imprisonment under section 302.
