The newly constructed RCC Minor Bridge at Thahekhu Village was inaugurated on Tuesday by Hilo Semp, project director, DRDA Dimapur. The bridge having a span of 6.0 mtrs was constructed under NREGS 2008-09 & 09-10 with the total project cost of Rs.10.5 lacs.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural programme, Hilo Semp, appreciated the VDB Thahekhu for having successfully constructed the bridge by judiciously utilizing the fund thereby creating such a useful asset for the villagers which was a big achievement of the VDB.
He also encouraged the villagers to have community spirit and continue to work for the development and progress of the village availing government facilities under various communitised departments and urged to exemplify to other villages of Nagaland.
Guest of honour, Taliyanger, BDO, Medziphema RD Block expressed contentment over the projects and schemes being implemented by VDB Thahekhu under NREGS and remarked that the successful completion of RCC Minor Bridge project was a big feat by VDB Thahekhu. He congratulated the VDB Thahekhu for bagging the best VDB award of the district in the previous year. He reminded the villagers that, successful implementation of the schemes, good record keeping and cordial cooperation towards the department were the main criteria on which the Village was selected for the best performing VDB Award in the District, as such the Village should continue perform in the best possible manner to progress ahead.
T. Hukiye Yepthomi, head GB, delivered the welcome speech, T. Yekheto Ayemi, Council Chairman, proposed the vote of thanks while Vitohe Chishi, VDB secretary, Thahekhu chaired the function. Earlier the inaugural prayer was offered by Rev. Dr. Yehevi Jimo, Pastor, Thahekhu Baptist Church and the function concluded with the benediction prayer by Hukato Shikhu, youth leader.
The chief guest was accompanied by Alemla Chishi, project officer, DRDA, Dimapur, Pillai, J.E., Medziphema Block, Zheheto Shohe, BDO, Kuhuboto, and Tokiho Chophy, J.E. Kuhuboto.
