Panchayat Lower Chandmari Colony (PLCC) Kohima has notified that all dustbins in the colony would be removed by KMC with immediate effect.
In this regard, the panchayat has directed colony residents to bring their own garbage directly to KMC vehicle on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4pm onwards starting from government printing press area to AG road bridge area.
Informing this in a joint press release, PLCC chairman Thungbemo Mozhui and secretary John Kath stated that this was resolved at a meeting held September 15 between panchayat members and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) advisors and staffs regarding promotion of “dustbin free zone” in the colony.
Panchayat also informed all residents to comply with KMC and PLCC order to maintain waste and garbage and further cautioned that fine would be imposed on anyone found throwing waste and garbage in drainage and footpath of the colony.
Meanwhile, PLCC has expressed appreciation to KMC advisors Neiletuo Kire, Lhouvi Tseikha and Ahelie Theyo and KMC staffs for their efforts in promoting dustbin free zone in the colony.
