IR nabs 2 Maoists

At least two hardcore Maoists were apprehended by joint forces of 10 NAP (IR) battalion and West Bengal police during a joint operation inside Jhalda forest in Purulia district, West Bengal September 12. According to state police PRO, IGP S.T. Sangtam, the 10 NAP (IR) bn, which was just inducted into field operation duties in Maoist-infested West Bengal, made its first mark during this joint operation. The police department said that initially nine suspects were apprehended but later confirmed that two were hardcore Maoist activists. The two were identified as one Santosh Maji of Chirudhar village and Atul Prasad Besra of Bawra Kotcha village, under Jhalda police station limits. Santosh Maji, reported to be a key Maoist organizer in the area, has been under wanted list in connection with some case.
