Dimapur Muncipal Council (DMC) Advisor and rate control in charge Atovi Zhimomi has clarified with regard to the news item issued by Razeba Public Organization (RPO) on rate of cabbages. Zhimomi while stating the rate was contradictory to the rate maintained by DMC alleged the rate fixing of vegetables was done kilo-wise and not based on bags as alleged by RPO.
“The question of cabbage costing Rs 1.25 per kilo at whole sale rise does not arise” he asserted.
He further informed that the existing price of cabbage until September 14 was Rs 9 per kilo and Rs 14 at retail.
Reiterating the intention of DMC was not to discourage farmers; Zhimomi said the municipal rather wants to give them reasonable margin of profit.
Zhimomi also affirmed that the fixation of rates was done only after properly studying the market and keeping in mind the interest of consumers, farmers and traders. Meanwhile, Zhimomi urged aggrieved party to clear any doubts from DMC in future before going to the press.
