NSCN (I-M) general secretary Th Muivah on Thursday ruled out giving up sovereignty and greater Nagaland. Affirming that giving up both the demands meant accepting the Indian constitution; Muivah stated, ‘we are not going to accept Indian constitution. We have made it time and again clear’.
Interacting with the media persons upon his arrival at Dimapur airport, Muivah maintained that both the parties are more serious than before and were putting in every effort to solve the decades old problem. “…I believe that solution may not be far away” he said.
Acknowledging that reconciliation is an issue to be addressed during his visit, the NSCN (I-M) leader asserted that his organization was committed towards it. “We don’t change and back track from our commitment” he averred. When asked about his comments on the GPRN/NSCN abstinence from the proposed reconciliation conclave by FNR, Muivah replied, “If they really meant that then that is only a pretext and we don’t accept pretext. We honor our commitment and there must be reconciliation. There must be understanding. They is nothing wrong and why should they refuse”.
On further asking about his plans to visit Naga inhabited areas, the NSCN (I-M) leader said that it might not be possible this time but would certainly do so when the right time comes.
Further asserting that NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu has the final say, Muviah expressed hope that Swu would join them soon.
