Ansari to grace WBD

Vice President of India Dr. M. Hamid Ansari would grace the “World Bamboo Day” as chief guest September 18, 2:30 p.m. at Nagaland Heritage village, Kisama. Nagaland governor Nikhil Kumar chief minister Neiphiu Rio would grace the occasion as guest of honour and as chief host respectively. The World Bamboo Day celebration, organised by Nagaland government in association with World Bamboo Organisation and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, would witness varied programmes including the unveiling of monolith as Honorary Citizen of Naga Heritage Village, National Anthem, World Bamboo Day song, Bamboo Orchestra from Meghalaya and cultural programme. According to the programme chief minister Neiphiu Rio would deliver welcome address while Vice President of India Dr. M. Hamid Ansari would release the book “Green Gold” and honour bamboo pioneers. Meanwhile, the state government drawing attention to a news item regarding alleged cancellation of vice president’s visit to Tuensang, reported in a local daily September 17, today clarified that vice president’s Tuensang visit stood as scheduled, a DIPR report stated.
