Transport union stir

Burdened by excessive tax collection at check gates by organizations such FGN, NNC, KRU, KRA and UPDS, the Dimapur Goods Transport Union (DGTU began an indefinite strike from September 16. In this regard, the DGTU through a statement has urged the authority responsible to intervene into the matter at the earliest. The union said it has become difficult for them even to open their office owing to such collections. According to the DGTU, the UPDS was demanding Rs. 1, 500 per trip while the rest of the organizations were demanding Rs.1, 300 per trip.
