GMS Lengrijan has been upgraded to a full fledged government high school (GHS) on Monday with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) chief advisor Er. K. Keditsu as chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the newly upgraded high school, Er. Keditsu lauded the village education committee (VEC) and staff of the school for their efforts in achieving the new status for the school.
While pointing out that educationists had a great responsibility and role to play in the society, the DMC chief advisor stated that parents and the community also shared equal responsibility, and encouraged them to inculcate not only discipline but also a sense of “dignity of manual labour” in children.
Er. Keditsu also stressed on the need for the school authority, teachers and students to overcome complacence and strive to demonstrate that government schools were as competitive as private schools. He encouraged the school to excel in all aspects and set examples for other schools, and further expressed hope that GHS Lengrijan would develop to achieve the higher secondary before long.
The programme was attended by members of Lengrijan village council, VEC, GHS Lengrijan staff and students, while district education officer (DEO) Dimapur Asono Ndang graced the occasion as guest of honour.
