GBs of Dimapur district on Monday resolved to withhold their participation at the forthcoming election of Nagaland Gaon-Bura Federation (NGBA) office bearers.
A joint press statement issued by Dimapur Sadar GB Union (DSGBU) chairman & sessional chairman Pukuolie Angami and sessional secretary W. Kholie Kapfo stated that presidents and members of four GB units under Dimapur district held a joint meeting on October 11 at GBs Union Sadar office, Dimapur to discuss the issue and that the house failed to reach a consensus on the issue of candidate for the NGBA election.
Therefore, members present at the meeting unanimously adopted a resolution to abstain from voting or supporting any candidate, the statement said.
It also stated that in this regard, the house has decided that no person would be authorized to exercise vote or support any candidate on behalf of GBs under Dimapur district.
The house also resolved to invalidate any “vested person” convening meetings on behalf of GB union and taking decisions with regard to NGBF election, the statement said, and further cautioned that action would be initiated against violator(s) of the resolutions, as per provisions of Naga customary laws and practices.
The meeting was attended by GBs’ unions of Dhansiripar, Chakhro Angami, Niuland and Dimapur Sadar presidents, secretaries, executive members and senior members.
