NH-39 traffic on Mnp section resumes

Traffic along the Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 resumed Tuesday after three days of disturbances due to landslides between Mao and Tadubi in Senapati district. According to reports, after two days of clearance works, the traffic movement was restored.
Police said that about 207 freight trucks including 40 oil tankers and 17 bullet tankers (bulk LPG gas) left Mao gate from Imphal with security escort.
Meanwhile, the flood in Imphal remains grim as many low-lying areas are still submerged in Imphal east and Thoubal districts affecting about 55,000 people. The state government had released 5500 quintals of rice for the flood victims. According to the reports submitted by the DCs of four valley districts, over 55,000 people have been affected by floods in four valley districts with Imphal east district having highest number of affected families. It is pertinent to mention here that state government had sanctioned 5500 quintals of rice for distribution and Rs 10 lakhs for flood relief operations.
