Various units of GBs association under Dimapur district Tuesday reacted in opposition to a news item that appeared in a local daily on October 12 wherein GBs of Dimapur district have purportedly resolved to withhold their participation at the forthcoming election of Nagaland Gaon-Bura Federation (NGBA).
In connection with this, Dimapur District GBs Association (DDGBA) has called for an emergency joint meeting on Tuesday with Western Sumi Kukami Hoho GBs president, senior tribal leaders and GB leaders of Niuland, Dhansiripar, Kuhuboto and Aqahuto units.
According to a press statement issued by DDGBA president M.Y. Ngullie and general secretary T. Onen Jamir, the house has unanimously decided to participate in the ensuing NGBF general session and election. The statement also informed that the district president and general secretary were authorized to exercise their powers in consultation with the 11 districts of the state.
Meanwhile, GBs units of Dhansiripar, Niuland and Kuhuboto, in separate releases clarified that the unions have not agreed to the resolution to withhold participation in the NGBF elections. The units stated that they would be participating in the NGBF general session and election for new office bearers.
