DC Mokokchung notifies
DIMAPUR: With the ongoing ‘Durga Puja Festival” celebration the 9th Assam Rifles C/O 99 APO Mokokchung would fire blank rounds in the morning and evening starting October 8 to 17 as part of traditional function. DC Mokokchung Lithrongla Chishi has therefore requested citizens of Mokokchung to bear with any inconvenience and cooperate with the district administration.

Baptist College cultural day
KOHIMA: The 5th cultural day of Baptist College Kohima would be celebrated on the theme “Unity through culture” on October 14 at Ura Academy. Parliamentary secretary, social welfare and women development Chotisuh Sazo would grace the programme as chief guest.
PVSU meeting deferred
DIMAPUR: Pangti village student union (PVSU) has postponed its office bearers meeting to October 16, 9 am at its union office Pangti. All office bearers have been requested to attend the meeting.
Seiurüzha colony directive to residents
DIMAPUR: Seiurüzha colony Chumukedima has informed all residents of the colony to clean their respective surroundings, attached road, electric line on or before October 15. Executive and youth executive of Seiurüzha colony in a joint meeting on August 27 also decided to impose ban on selling of drugs and alcohol under the jurisdiction of Seiurüzha colony Chumukedima town.
Summary revision of ER at Wokha
DIMAPUR: In view of conduct of special summary revision of electoral roll (ER) with January 1, 2011 as qualifying date, DC & district election officer Wokha has informed that detail date scheduled for draft publication of rolls would be on October 30; period for filling of claims and objections from October 30 to November 23; disposal of claims and objections by December 23; and final publication of electoral rolls on January 5, 2011.
SASU, SKK condemn hit and run case
DIMAPUR: Saptiqa Area Students’ Union (SASU) and SKK have condemned the hit and run case at Kohima on October 4 night, where one speeding vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration No. NL-07-4710 being driven by Shekuto Kheso of Phek village, killed one Atoho Kiho on the spot and injured another person. SASU and SKK, in separate releases, while conveying their condolences to the bereaved family members, further urged the responsible authorities to initiate appropriate action against the culprit.
ANCSU by-election
KOHIMA: The by-election for the post of president of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) for the tenure 2009-11 will be held on October 13 from 10 am onwards at ANCSU office, Naga Club building. Issuing of nomination forms would start from 10-11 am, and submission from 11 am-11:45 am, withdrawal of candidature from 11:45 to 12 pm; scrutiny of nomination forms from 12 pm-12:20 pm; announcing of candidates from 12:30 onwards; introduction of candidates and polling from 12:30 onwards and counting and declaration of president from 12:30 onwards.
Apropos ‘Edn, viable hope for Nagas: VC’ that appeared in the October 11 issue of this newspaper, the sentence “… the university’s total annual budget….” should read as “ the university’s budget for the 11th plan period for all programmes and projects was only around `80 crore” and not as rendered.
